Bulletin 24th July 2016

Categories: Church,Events

Ignite youth takes place every Friday evening here at OBC.  It rocks.  We get close to God.  Please note the new times: FROM 6:30 TO 8:30 PM.
SAFETY:  If you come by public transport please do not try to walk the 700m between the main road and OBC alone.  Please go to the No-Mathata petrol station and wait for the Church combi to collect you.
PARENTS: We will be very grateful if all parents could collect their own children.  If this is not possible we do take them home.  Please bear with us that they may arrive late, but they will be safe.

Come and learn more about this topic at the next Fresh Start meeting on 3rd August at 5:30 pm in the OBC Cry Room. For more information phone Susan Mogwera 72572827, 395 3779.

It is with sadness we announce that the elder brother of Mrs Maria Phiri (of Face The Nation) passed away in Zimbabwe on Thursday 21st July 2016. Our prayers and sincere sympathy are with Maria and the family. Let us continue to pray for God’s comfort during this time.

Brother Willie Shumba, who arrived in Botswana in 2009, and has been working with the SADC Secretariat, will be leaving Botswana for Addis Ababa on 28 July. He is taking up a position at the African Union headquarters in Ethiopia. We wish Brother Shumba and his wife Sister Betty farewell as they leave Botswana, and God’s blessings in Addis Ababa.

Our next visit to Moshupa will be on the Saturday 30th July 2016. This will be a very special occasion for our Volunteers to meet their charges before the start of their programmes. The programme of that morning will cover the following

  • Hand over books that have now arrived to the Library Services
  • Volunteers for Extra BGCSE Tutorial and Gardening project will meet their students.
  • We hope to hand over our winter donation of woollen hats and gloves to all the 200 inmates
  • Our Counselling Ministry will have the opportunity to meet a selected few inmates who are on the verge of release back to the society and their families.
  • The Youth Dance Group will minister to the inmates through Dance and Testimonies.
  • Our Sports Ministry will have a chat with the football/Basketball Players and discuss the coaching programmes to come.
  • The Precept upon Precept Ministry will introduce their Bible Study programme to Prison Officers.
  • The Gospel Group will release their one-on-one evangelism tract to OBC
  • Details of dignitaries from Botswana Prison Services HQ to attend the function will be released in due course.

Members of the OBC Family are invited to be part of this exciting programme by donating a pack of wollen gloves or wollen hats that can be found at the Chinese Oriental Plaza. More importantly – ADD THE PRISON MINISTRY ON TO YOUR PRAYER ITEMS.
