SUNDAY EVENING MOVIE: Father of Lights
If God could be filmed, what would He look like? In this explosive documentary, filmmaker Darren Wilson attempts to do the impossible: film God and understand His nature and character. Along the way, Darren and his team encounter powerful witch doctors, violent gang leaders, Hindu holy men, and everyday people with extraordinary experiences to tell. Father of Lights attempts to tear away much of the bad press the Almighty has received over the years, and reveals a God who is far better than anyone could have possibly imagined. Prepare to see the impossible; prepare to meet your Maker who is still manifesting His glory in our days. Part 1 will be shown today at 6pm, with part 2 showing next Sunday evening.

OBC SCHOOL OF DISCIPLESHIP
The OBC School of Discipleship kicks off on February 15, 2015, during the evening service, with an 8-week programme geared towards the growth and spiritual development of the participants. We are repeating Tracks 1 and 2 to enable those who did track 1 to do track 2 and vice-versa. Those who missed the last SOD are welcome to register for any track of their choice. A new and exciting module is also available  for the children in Godzone.

Track 1: When the Enemy Strikes
This track is, firstly,  about recognizing who is against us and our Christian walk and what methods that the enemy uses to get at our hearts, minds, emotions, will, etc. Then it covers the Armour of God, what it really is, how we use it and how it is designed to help us in the offense and defence of our spiritual lives. Lastly, the track covers some other key ways to protect you and your family from the enemy that seeks to destroy us. Some practical methods are provided with a focus on aspects of prayer and how to pray for you and your loved ones so we all “stand firm and resist the devil.”

Track 2: Landmines in the Path of the Believer
The goal of this track is to help the believer identify seven destructive temptations, and give the hope and skills needed to get past these temptations to live an abundant and obedient life. When you are in the midst of a spiritual battle, you soon realize that Satan will do anything he can to keep you from the Lord’s will. But sometimes, the battle is not obvious. Sometimes, Satan uses landmines to keep you from reaching your destination. These landmines are: Pride, Jealousy and Envy, Insecurity, Compromise, Unforgiveness, Sexual Sin and Laziness. This track takes each of these areas and teaches us how to identify, avoid, or defuse these landmines.

Hello, I am a bit confused about the movie “Father of Lights” are you promoting the movie or is it a warning to which God we serve? I did not attend the evening service and are interested to see the movie. Please advise

      Hi Louisa,
Thank you for your message. In this documentary, filmmaker Darren Wilson attempts to do the impossible: film God and understand His nature and character. Along the way, Darren and his team encounter powerful witch doctors, violent gang leaders, Hindu holy men, and everyday people with extraordinary experiences to tell. Father of Lights reveals a God who is far better than anyone could have possibly imagined. This film is a great compliment and a practical expression to our theme of “Manifesting His glory”. Come and watch Sunday night to see your God at work in the lives of ordinary people and doing the seemingly impossible. Don’t miss!
